SHAD is run by and for people with severe disabilities to promote and support independent living. Volunteers must be available for at least four months, they should be qualified drivers, adaptable and enthusiastic people. They have the same authority as regular police but their role is essentially one of support. Fairdeal is a voluntary organisation offering a disability empowerment and advocacy service to people with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, learning difficulties and mental health problems, in Leicestershire. P726 CEEFAX 726 Thu 13 Jan 21:11/23        SUPPORT TO SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE The Civil Rights Advice and Support Group (CAPA) offers support to survivors of racial, domestic and police violence and harrassment. Volunteers work from home during the evenings and on weekends, receiving calls from people who need advice and support.
