P731 CEEFAX 731 Thu 13 Jan 21:41/19 1/2 SPILLAGE AFFECTS LANCASHIRE COAST A pollution spillage has affected miles of Lancashire coastline, and has now spread further to Wales. The spillage has affected wildlife in the area particulary birds. Over 200 are known to have been affected by the substance. It is thought the spillage is an industrial adhesive called mastic. P731 CEEFAX 731 Thu 13 Jan 21:12/19 2/2 WILDLIFE AFFECTED BY LANCS SPILLAGE Many types of birds have been killed or injured by the spillage and more are being washed ashore. Among the birds affected were grebes, razorbills, guillemots, sandpipers and a rare bar-tailed godwit was also a victim. Coastguards cleaning up beaches between St Anne's and Fleetwood said that the spillage was likely to have come from a lost barrel.
