Behind the neon facade, Aids has swept through the brothels into the general population - 93 per cent of Thai men use brothels which can be found even in the smallest villages. Female patients are attacked, some are even raped, by male patients on mixed wards - when women try to make a complaint, they are often ignored or advised to keep the attack secret.
