It takes a comic look at the high and low points in the history of the world, including an unforgettable (and very vulgar) Spanish inquisition number. Good performances from Don de Luise, Madeline Kahn, Sid Cvasar and Pamela Stephenson. Narrated by Orson Welles. Wotch it if you dare! Add in the attention to period detail, and the intelligent handling of the story, and it's well worth catching, whether or not you lik baseball. In Uttar Pradesh, low-caste Phoolan Devi (Seema Biswas) has had more trouble than you can bear to think about — exploited, abused and raped. So she becomes a bandit in order to take her vengeance in a story very well-handled by director Shekhar Kaput, who says what has to be said without sensationalising violent events. In Hindi with English subtitles. TV Choice 593 Biz 566 TV Review 595 TV&Radio 600 News 101 Front Page 100 TV Review Reviews TV/Radio Main Menu
