Well, that does depend on what you watch. How many clubbers have you seen taking tips from The Hit Man and Her? Channel 4's "The Word" prides itself on the unchoreographed stance of its dance. Yes, we know they get off on the music...but they've also heard the tales of how Wummni was discovered grooving at the Fridge (in Brixton) and invited to dance with Soul II Soul (albeit behind a screen initially!) Now club dancers are appearing in vids all over! "We pick them up all  over the place", admits  researcher Matthew.   He also admits to ogling dancers at clubs and asking the ones that take his fancy (professionally, of course!) to audition for the programme. "The dance scene is moving so fast at the moment and for the first time big record companies seem to be tapping into what's happening. "Some folk are a bit shocked when you approach them in a club", Matthew grins "but, since most dancers tend to go round in posses, you approach one and you've got a ready made team. Wj don't tell them what to do...and we don't care about looks!" "A few  record companies/video makers  approach with a clear idea of  what they want but most don't  have a clue. Most aren't after  stunning good looks," says Cav.  "Looks are as individual as dance." Most of The Company's dancers are at college or work, earning a few bob from what they love in their spare time but they're beginning to wonder whether they could make it into a career... It all depends on the fickle music market.
