Renault's new Clio has been on sale in France for some months, but is not due here until next March. That month coincides with the Geneva Show, which will also be a busy one for car launches, bringing the new Ford Escort RS 2000, among others. Is it cheaper?' At the Motor Show last week, Peter Beaumont, managing director of the Colt Car Co., pointed out that many such private imports do not comply with UK Construction and Use Regulations. To bring them in is not an offence; and they can be sold privately to unsuspecting customers. It sets out to defend the car and the lorry, and puts the share of pollution attributable to road transport into perspective - only 28% comes from vehicles; 52% is from power stations.
