P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2354:12 ANOTHER 48 HOURS (18) Eddie Murphy Nick Nolte Detective Nolte once again needs Eddie's help and has to spring him from the slammer to go in pursuit of a San Francisco drugs baron. A hollow script but plenty of action, with innumerable chases and fights. BACK TO THE FUTURE III (PG) Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd Doc disappears in the De Lorean and Marty tracks him back to 1885 and the Wild West where Doc has fallen in love with a school teacher. A great family film which recalls the exuberance of the original.Crazy People >Reviews Guide 620 New Plays 624Bask on a Tropical Beach p359 (ITV) New Plays West End Videos Beat Box
P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2354:27 CRAZY PEOPLE (15) Dudley Moore Moore is an advertising exec who starts telling the truth about the products. Naturally, his boss has him locked up, but when the ads are a big hit Moore's fellow inmates all become copywriters. A nice idea badly executed. Unfunny. CRIMES AND MISDEMEANOURS (15) Martin Landau, Mia Farrow, Woody Allen Woody Allen's best film since Manhattan is, as usual, an ensemble piece with several strands of plot. Allen provides the humour in what is essentially a grim tale of human fallibility. Days of Thunder >Reviews Guide 620 New Plays 624HOLIDAY BARGAINS IN SCOTLAND p386 New Plays West End Videos Beat Box
P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2355:11 DAYS OF THUNDER (12) Tom Cruise, RobertDuvall, Nicole Kidman Cruise is a tyro driver, Duvall his manager and Kidman the brain surgeon who nurses him after he crashes in this banal, boring and technically poor movie about American stock car racing. DICK TRACY (PG) Warren Beatty, Madonna Director/star Beatty sets new standards for the comic strip. Retaining the flavour of the 30s original, he creates a world of primary colours in which the plot takes second place to dazzling performances from a gallery of stars. P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2355:47 DIE HARD 2 (15) Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, William Atherton Washington airport is hi-jacked by terrorists and Willis the cop must spend another Christmas risking life and limb. Just as exciting as the first film, with truly astonishing effects. GREMLINS 2 (12) In Joe Dante's exuberant sequel, Gizmo is rescued from a vivisection lab and Gremlins break out everywhere when he gets an accidental soaking. A hilarious movie with special effects that surpass the original. Honey I Shrunk The Kids >Reviews Guide 620 New Plays 624 BOOKMAKERS ON ORACLE SEE p600New Plays West End Videos Beat Box
P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2356:18 HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS (U) Rick Moranis, Matt Frewer, Marcia Strassman Moranis plays an eccentric inventor, whose latest gadget miniaturises his kids, who then have to make it home from the end of the garden. Funny and rifreshingly free of Disney moralising.I LOVE YOU TO DEATH (15) Kevin Kline, Tracey Ullman, Joan Plowright Pizza owner Kevin Kline is the local Cazanova whose wife Tracey Ullman vows to kill him for his infidelities, but fails in her numerous attempts. A black comedy that widely misses the mark. Memphis Belle >Reviews Guide 620 New Plays 624AA NEW & USED CAR REPORTS p190 ITV New Plays West End Videos Beat Box
P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2351:04 MEMPHIS BELLE (12) John Lithgow A banal story about an American crew on their twenty fifth bombing mission over Germany. Based on a wartime documentary the movie is full of cliches - like the airman losing his virginity before take-off. It's also archaic and dull. NIGHTBREED (18) Craig Sheffer, David Cronenberg Directed by Clive Barker, this is a rather flabby film about a psychiatric patient told by his shrink that he's a serial killer who's been murdering folk in Calgary. Monsters and gore galore. Paper Mask >Reviews Guide 620 New Plays 624EDUCATION & TRAINING PAGE 679(C4) New Plays West End Videos Beat Box
P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2357:36 PAPER MASK (15) Paul McGann, Amanda Donohoe Paul McGann plays a hospital porter who steals a dead doctor's identity and gets a job in a casualty department. Though it veers into melodrama, worth seeing for its black humour and fine acting. PRESUMED INNOCENT (18) Harrison Ford, Bonny Bedelia, Greta Scacchi,Raul Julia An intelligent but very dull and static version of Scott Turow's bestseller. Ford is a district attorney accused of killing a glam colleague and former lover. Not as good as Jagged Edge. P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2352:18 PRETTY WOMAN (15) Richard Gere, Julia Roberts Corporate raider Gere picks up pretty prostitute Roberts when lost in LA, and employs her for a week as his escort. He grooms her for the good life, she helps him find his heart Stylish, warm and witty romantic comedySPACED INVADERS (PG) Neat idea in which the Martian Navy overhears a radio broadcast which makes them think the rest of their patrol is invading Earth. As it's halloween, no- one worries about little green men - to start with! Good kids movie. P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2358:44 TOTAL RECALL (18) Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Schwarzenegger on Mars - that's this movie in a nutshell! Lavish sci-fi movie with stunning visuals, about mining rights on the Red Planet. A complex plot and very violent. WILD AT HEART (18) Nicholas Cage, Laura Dern David Lynch's film delves into the dark side of America. Witty and shocking, it's a road movie with Nicholas Cage fleeing borstal and Laura Dern her mother. Strong stomachs required but a talent worth watching. P623 ORACLE 623 Sun30 Sep C4 2353:11 WJLD ORCHID (18) Mickey Rourke, Jacqueline Bisset, Carre Otis Poor man's Emmanuelle, with Otis curing Rourke's sexual hang-ups in steamy Rio. Promoted as a searching quest into the nature of erotic love, it's actually a pretentious and crashing bore. THE WITCHES (PG) Anjelica Huston, Rowan Atkinson Hugely enjoyable film of Roald Dahl's book, with Huston as the wicked witch who holds a coven in a seaside hotel managed by Rowan Atkinson and turns two little boys into mice. Witty, scary and fantastic. Another 48 Hours >Reviews Guide 620 New Plays 624HOLIDAY BARGAINS IN THE ISLE OF WIGHT see page 392 (ITV) New Plays West End Videos Beat Box
