First out was The Laughing Lord who landed the Walter Langenberger Novices Chase by a comfortable 6l. Amateur rider Andy Thornton sent the winner into the lead after the last and won in a matter of strides Cheesbrough said: "This is my first win here but it wasn't a surprise. He stays and jumped well today, but he wants further." Source: William HILL Organization Ltd Kemp Revw StratRevw SouthRevw Eve Dog

He had to work hard for his victory though with General Pershing making him battle all the way up the home straight until finally surrendering Kenny Johnson always had the winner in the van and will be relieved to get his third win in a bad year. Cheesbrough said: "He might be suited by front-running tactics and we'll now go for the National." Source: William HILL Organization Ltd Kemp Revw StratRevw SouthRevw Eve Dog
