An Index of Video Game Demos

For many of us that are into old video games, acquiring and playing demos was a large part of the experience. Before shelling out many £££'s on the next title, you might want to try and see if you like it first. You had two options, either rent/borrow a copy or get a playable demo from a cover-mount disc on your favourite gaming magazine.

These days demos are rarely produced, with publishers opting for general media coverage to "hype" up customers and get them to part with their money. From a history point of view, demos can generate bits of interest as they may contain "assets" (i.e. bits of the game) that were changed in the full release. But for me, I still think they're a good way to try before you buy or even help build out a wish list.

This page will list all of the video game demos I encounter. These are games that are explicitly advertised as being demos, and won't include shareware - that's on another page. This page will almost only contain demos for the Windows operating system and provide a note about where you can find it (i.e. what CD-ROM it is on).
